To Whom It May Concern:

Welcome to the 2011 Dizzy Dean Senior League (19 and under) World Series. The tournament host will be Heritage High School (Catoosa County’s newest high school) located in the historic north Georgia area mere minutes from the Chickamauga Battlefield. The facility at HHS is first class all the way. The tournament will be played July 21-26. It is the goal of Heritage High School, the Boynton Bulldogs and Dizzy Dean Baseball to create an experience that the players, coaches, fans, and families will cherish in their memories for years to come.

Entry into this grand event is for Dizzy Dean sanctioned teams only. Entries must be submitted on a Dizzy Dean World Series Entry Form and signed/approved by the respective Dizzy Dean National Board Member of your state or a designee by the Commissioner of Dizzy Dean Baseball Inc. This is an open World Series for all Senior League (19 and under) Dizzy Dean Sanctioned Teams. This means that you do not have to be a state champion to compete, however, for state champion teams there will be no charge to participate in the tournament and for all other teams there will be a $200 nonrefundable tournament entry fee but all teams must submit proper paperwork. Your signed World Series Entry Forms and $200 entry fee check made payable to Boynton Baseball (only for non-state champions) should be mailed to (ATTN: Jason Lanham, 145 Green Valley Drive Rock Spring GA. 30739). All entries and checks must be received by Monday July 18 and by doing this your team will be guaranteed a spot in the 2011 Senior League (19 and under) Dizzy Dean World Series at Heritage High School in Ringgold GA.

There will also be an official Dizzy Dean World Series Souvenir Program available for this event. In order to make sure that your team is included in this program we must have your team photo submitted no later than Friday July 15 (submit your photo as a JPEG attachment to lanhamjc@gmail.com) Please see attached addendum to this letter for all necessary information and instructions for your team being included in the official Dizzy Dean World Series Souvenir Program. Although a photo is optional all teams must submit a team roster on a word document to the above email address by the posted deadline. Roster must include team name, state represented, player names, and coaches’ names. Thanks in advance for your compliance.

The 2011 Host Hotel for the Dizzy Dean Senior League (19 and under) will be the Hampton Inn (Dalton Ga.) This hotel is beautifully equipped and located within walking distance of several eateries and the Dalton Outlet Malls. The hotel is approximately twenty minutes from the ball field at Heritage High School. The host hotel has special rates for this event. All hotel contact and rate information is attached on an addendum to this letter. The Dalton area is being used for lodging due to the fact that recent local storms (tornado) destroyed most hotel accommodations and eateries in the Ringgold area; however, Heritage High School was unharmed and is extremely excited about hosting this event.

The report date for all teams is July 21 (see attached addendum for all necessary materials needed for this day) with the Credentials check in between 2pm to 4pm that same day at the Boynton Georgia Voting Precinct (4057 Boynton Drive, Ringgold, GA 30736 located directly beside Boynton Baptist Church). Following the Credentials check in will be a managers/coaches meeting at 4:00pm to determine pools/brackets. This process will be done by blind draw but the exact format of the World Series will be determined by Dizzy Dean Baseball Inc. Any questions or concerns contact Tournament Director Chris Landry (678) 531-2291 or Tournament Coordinator Jason Lanham (423) 593-5485

Following the Managers/Coaches meeting on July 21 will be our Opening Ceremonies and Meal beginning at 6:45pm under the pine trees of historic Seabolt Field (located across the street from the voting precinct). The meal for players and coaches will be free. Meals for all others that wish to eat will be provided for a small additional cost (Includes Hamburger/Hot Dog, Chips, Drink, and Dessert).

After the Opening Ceremonies and Meal we will determine our Home Run King with a Home Run Derby starting at approximately 7:45pm. Each team will receive one free player entry into this event, however, you can submit as many players from your team as you desire for a charge of $10 for each additional entry. The format will be as follows: 10 Pitches from a pitching machine/batting practice pitcher, the player who hits the most homeruns wins. In case of a tie we will have a championship round consisting of 5 pitches for each participant. The winner of the homerun derby will receive a $100 Visa Gift Card. This should be lots of fun and a very exciting way to kick off our 2011 Senior League (19 and under) Dizzy Dean World Series.

After the festive and fast paced opening day, games will begin the next morning on July 22. Admission to the games will be $7 per person per day for adults and $4 per person per day for students. This charge will be administered to everyone except players and team coaches. A maximum of 4 coaches passes will be issued to each team. Also, a hospitality room with drinks and snacks will be available to all coaches, umpires, and Dizzy Dean officials at the field at Heritage High School. In closing, we look forward to a wonderful, heart stopping, and memory filled 2011 Dizzy Dean Senior League (19 and under) Dizzy Dean World Series at Heritage  High School in Ringgold Ga. It is our sincere hope your team chooses to “Come Play With Us”.

The Hampton Inn of Dalton is our primary host hotel for the Dizzy Dean Senior League (19 and under) World Series. The room rate is $89 plus tax (for the first 45 total rooms booked, after that the rate goes to $95 plus tax so reserve rooms early) which includes a hot breakfast. In order to receive this special rate during this areas peek tourist season you must give the booking agent at the hotel the group booking code (DDW) or mention that you are with the Dizzy Dean World Series. Every attempt will be made to accommodate special requests for room types, smoking preferences and location, however, due to the arrival and departure patterns not all requests may be able to be fulfilled. Reservations must be received by 07/18/2011. After this date reservations will be accepted based on availability and standard room rates. It is extremely important that you book your rooms by this date due to the fact that there are two other large conventions taking place in the area and hotel space could be extremely limited.
